A Trip Down Memory Lane!πŸ₯°

When I was 19, I spent a year as an AuPair on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. I totally fell in love with the place, and I have many fond memories from my stay there!
When I took up card making I looked for interesting groups to follow on Facebook, and one of the groups I started following pretty early on was {creative chick} studio share. This group is run by Jenn Shurkus, or the {creative chick}, as she calls herself. Initially my main reason for asking for memebership in this group, was that she is based on Cape Cod, but she is also on Lawn Fawn´s creative team, a crafting brand that I like very much, AND she makes beautiful cards!πŸ₯° The members in this group are mostly experienced card makers, so their posts are very beautiful and inspirational, and my makes definitely don´t match theirs in any way, so I never posted anything in the group. Not before now.
Earlier this week I received a messenger message from a friend of mine who wanted to show me what she had ordered from Lawn Fawn. We usually try to order our crafting supplies through stores based here in Norway, both because of shipping time and import taxes, however since our main Lawn Fawn supplier unfortunately closed her shop, my friend who is an avid Lawn Fawn fan has chosen to order directly from the States a couple of times now. We started to chat about a few of the items, and I mentioned that I had seen a video in which Jenn Shurkus, along with Kelly, the owner of Lawn Fawn, demonstrate making a couple of cards using the items in question. When talking about Jenn Shurkus, I happened to mention that I had bought a set of stamps form her a few years back, and that I hadn´t used them yet. My friend wanted me to send her a photo of the stamps, and then she challenged me to use them making a card, setting the deadline for the challenge to a week from when she gave me the challenge.
I immediately thought the stamps would go perfectly with Lawn Fawn´s Platform Pop-Up and the add-on dies.
I did the card in stages, as I didn´t have the time to sit down and finish it in one go. However, with a few trial and errors and some adjusting, I got it finished way before the deadline! I know a few changes I would have done if I were to do it again, but all in all I am pretty happy with it!

Bling!

I have been coloring in quite a few floral designs lately, just to get practice using alcohol markers, colored pencils or ink blending through stencils. I know have several just lying around just begging to be used on cards😘. So last week I decided to have a go, and get cracking making some cards. I had just watched a video on alcohol markers, so I was inspired to use mine. I ended up making 4 cards in total, three using different background dies and coloring with alcohol markers, and one with Altenew Woodless Watercolor Pencils. I was surprised with how much I loved using the watercolor pencils, by the way!🀩 Here are the rest of the cards I made:
And last, but not least - my attempt with watercoloring pencils;
I saw that I had made a birthday card back when I first started making cards that is in a similar style, so I decided to add that here as well.

Scene Built Around a Mini Kite.πŸͺ

I am absolutely in love with these tiny little mice from Lawn Fawn!🐭❤️ They are featured in a variety of stamp sets, and they come with coordinating dies. 🐭🐭🐭🐭🐭 For †his card I have combined the mice with a mini Kite Fold. I made the kite so that it would be possible to open, however, as the card idea progressed, I decided to remove the possibility to open it, and left it closed on the card. πŸͺπŸͺπŸͺπŸͺπŸͺ I decorated the kite with some small foam flowers that I had just made. I must admit I have gotten quite addicted to making this type of flowers, and I have found that it is a perfect activity to do when I wake up in the middle of the night, and I can´t fall back a sleepπŸ˜‚. πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€ I built a scene around the kite, and decided that I would try to make it look like the mice were all interacting with the kite somehow. Therefore I have tried to make it look like one of the mice is running with the kite, one is hanging from one of the ropes, and the rest are all looking up at the flying kite. I decorated with some cut out flowers, a bee and a couple of butterflies. πŸπŸ¦‹πŸπŸ¦‹πŸ Thanks for looking!πŸ₯°

Masculine Birthday Cards

Last week I was in need of a masculine birthday card for a friend, and since I didn´t have one on hand I decided to make one really quickly. Masculine cards are always a struggle, but a maritime theme is always a pleaser for a manly make. I have a variety of sea related stamps, so I had a look in my stash and decided to use some free stamps, "The Nautical Collection" by Sara Davies, that came with the cardmaking magazine "Simply Cards & Papercraft" issue 207. I also decided to make a shaker card. It´s been a while since I made one, so I thought it was about time, - and it is always fun to receive an interactive card. Unfortunately, I mixed some glitter in with the shaker elements that I chose, not remembering that glitter will cling to the acetate front. ********************************************************************************** Since the size I had chosen for my card was A2 (4 1/4" x 5 1/2"), I had two card blanks, so I decided to make another card, as I already had all the stamps and coloring pencils out. It came out similar, but quite different at the same time.
I am really pleased with the fairly short amount of time I needed to make these two cards. And I am pleased with how they turned out.

Happy Birthday!

Just a quick post to show the birthday card I just made for my guy for his birthday the other day. I used the 6"x6" pop up bouquet mechanism die set from Made to Surprise to make the crate. The beer bottle is a stamp from Papercraft Society Box 32, that I stamped, colored and fussy cut. I matched my crate with some beer-foam papers from the Norwegian company Paperdesign, and voila, I had my cardπŸ˜‰πŸΊ.

Easy Fold-Over Cards

Lately I have been hooked on making a simple fold-over card, that you can easily make into a gift card/tag-pocket card. Once again...
