Geometric No Glue Gift Boxes

A couple of weeks ago the Paper Pixie shared some adorable gift boxes that requires no glue. They are not exactly my cup of te to make, as they have some fold lines/score lines that does not fold too easily. But I gave them a try, and I liked them enought to make them in several colors.
They do hold together quite nicely without a fastening mechanism, however, they look a lot better if fastened with for instance a small magnet or velcroe dot.
I varied my decoration on the boxes, made some in a Christmas theme, and some in a floral theme.
I love the look of these boxes! A paper crafting friend of mine even wanted to turn them into small log cabins, as the shape of them clearly suggests this! If you are curious of how to make this box, I have enclosed the Paper Pixie´s tutorial below.

Birthday Surprise

The card closes with ribbon.

This Six Panel Folio Book Card inspired by Mixed Up Craft, is a birthday card commission I did for a neighbor.
I used silver metallic card stock as the base, and alternately added red and white card stock on top. To make this card as simple as possible, I decorated the card base with small panels of silver, and topped these, again alternately, with red and white card stock to be written on. I then made tiny "bouquets" of small red and white roses and glued them on with hot-glue.
The front of the card was decorated with a small post card from the "Miss Margit - In the Garden Collection" from REPRINT, as well as another small bouquet of roses. Silver Nuvo Drops add the final touch.

The inside of the card with the box lying in front.

The only thing that shows that this is a birthday card is a small panel with a silver heat embossed "Happy Birthday" in Norwegian.
The same silver metallic card stock is used as the connection between the individual panels.

The card is rather thick when it is rolled together, and I had to make a fairly deep box to hold it. It is decorated in the same style as the card, with silver and red, and I have used the same postcard from REPRINT to decorate the closure flap of the box, as on the first panel of the card. The roses that I have added on the front, are a little bit bigger than the ones inside the card.

Impossible Boxes

Impossible Horace😂
Meet Horace the Horse!😍 Sam Calcott from Mixed Up Craft, www.mixedupcraft.com, recently released her own collection of stamps, dies, papers and embossing folders, Made To Surprise. Sam's devoted crafting fans, and Sam herself, quickly made Horace the Horse and Geri the Giraffe their absolute favorites in the collection. They have also become mine.
Geri the Giraffe😁
So when I went to make another Impossible Box, the choice stood between Horace and Geri when it came to what to decorate the box with. This time the choice fell on Horace😉. But I have colored and die cut Geri as well, so he/she(?) will end up on something else in the near future!

The first time I used any of the stamps, were to decorate another Impossible Box. I have posted a variety of Impossible Boxes before, check out these previous blogposts: Impossible Gift Boxes and Impossible Popper Boxes, to see how it back then was the Paper Pixie from thepaperpixie.com who inspired me to make them.

An Impossible Box and an Impossible Popper Box á la the Paper Pixie.
Sam Calcott had gotten many requests to share how to make an Impossible Box in a Facebook Live, and she finally did last week. She made very different sizes then the ones I had made before, so I was inspired to make yet another Impossible Box. Here is the tutorial she has posted on YouTube:

Swivel Lid Gift Boxes

Swivel Lid Gift Box, yellows
Swivel Lid Gift Box, pinks
Yesterday's project was another one that I have been wanting to try for a while, but that I didn't have the right flower dies to do in it's original form, the in my mind beautiful Swivel Lid Gift Box. This is another Mixed Up Crafts project that can be found on mixedupcrafts.com. Instead of me writing a lot about how to do it, go to Sam Calcott´s video tutorial on youtube to see how an expert does it😊 https://youtu.be/659RGVnXd0w

The box measure 3 1/4" x 3 1/4", or 9,5cmx9,5cm, however, since it has a triangular piece in one of the corners, the actual item you put in the box, must be somewhat smaller.

Here you can see the triangular piece in the upper left corner.

My boxes turned out ok, but I found that I had some stability issues with them. They are pretty top heavy, and I had to enforce the sunflower itself, as I had used way too flimsy card stock on the yellow one, and it wouldn't stay out to the side when I opened it. So I cut extra pieces to glue on the first layer to make the bottom not just droop down. You also have to put something into the box in order for it to not tip over when you open it.
When there is something in the box,
though,
the box has counter-weight and stands fine.

I had to put something underneath the sunflower,
in order for the box not to tip over when the box is empty.

However, all in all, I love how these boxes turned out, though, and I will most likely try to resize them so that I can use a smaller topper.
Thanks, Sam Calcott of Mixed Up Crafts!

The Love Box Series

Floral Purple Love Box

I am constantly trying to create new things, and once in a while I get ideas that I think (dream) could take off and become a "thing". The Love Box series is one of those ideas. My intention is to make beautiful little boxes and fill them with an item that might bring someone a little love in their daily life. The first boxes I have made, contain beautifully scented candles from Bolsius. I have used two different types of candles, one is in a small glass and the other are tea-lights. Bolsius is a candle company in the Netherlands, bolsius.com, and although the candles already have fairly nice packaging, I have chosen to take it one step further and make a decorative box to place them in. The fragrance is beautiful but poignant, and they come with an allergy warning.
This is just the first of hopefully many items that I want to include in my so-called Love Box series.

Easy Fold-Over Cards

Lately I have been hooked on making a simple fold-over card, that you can easily make into a gift card/tag-pocket card. Once again...
